Ruby at the Beach: By Sherry Jackson
There was one weekend during this last summer when we decided that taking our smallest pooch, Ruby, a Scottish terrier, to Myrtle Beach, SC with us would be fun. After all, she loves the water even though she can’t swim very well (she has short legs!) and she had never been to the ocean.
Once settled into our pet friendly hotel, The La Quinta Inn Myrtle Beach, we took a walk down to the beach. Luckily it was after 5pm (dogs are not allowed on the beach from 9am until 5pm May 15th through September 15th). Ruby’s ears perked up the closer we got to the ocean. She could tell something was different. The tide was coming in so the waves were crashing a little louder than usual. The closer we got, the more she barked. She then started to run up to the waves and then she would hurry up and back up. She just couldn’t figure out why the water was playing with her.
After about twenty minutes she was panting hard and still hadn’t made it into the water. Laughing, we headed back to the hotel where Ruby settled in to get some rest after such a fun adventure!
